Incoming tide on the causeway at Shell Island

The Causeway on Shell Island

This is the famous causeway that visitors have to cross to gain access to the island. It has caught many a driver out, myself included, by being deeper than it first appears.
A common action made by many is to try and beat the tide and drive through the water rather than just wait for the tide to receed.
Just sit back and enjoy it, life's too short, this is priceless.

My wife and I have sat more than once on the 'wrong' side waiting for the tide to turn, as my paintings title says 'Time and tide wait for no man on the Shell Island causeway' so we just make a cup of tea, and take in the atmosphere.

This painting is in a private collection.

For more information about Shell Island you need to visit the very unofficial Shell Island website by following the next link: Shell Island Campers website or the official website Shell Island or telephone Shell Island direct 01341 241 453
