When you take a walk in the countryside you may notice old gates just like this one, sometimes they make an absolutely brilliant painting.

This one I found in an old lane on the outskirts of Wem in North Shropshire.
What you may not notice is the washing line in the background, it caught my eye and is quite ghostly. When added to the impression of the old milk churn it makes the picture.

My inspiration for this panting came from a John Blockley picture.
