The Merlin in The Shell Island HarbourThe Merlin in The Harbour

Here we have the beautiful Merlin again, back in harbour waiting for some high water.

She has an unusual way of keeping upright when the tide begins to ebb.

Because she has a fixed keel she needs to keep her balance so she has a pair of 'legs'.

On the right side of the hull you can see a steel support leg, there are two of these, and they simply wind down as the water gets lower the legs keep her upright.

This painting is sold and in a private collection.
